Just Keep Swimming...

Today ladies and gents I will be talking about one of my personal favorite forms of exercise!!! SWIMMING!!!! I love being in the water!!! I swear i'm part fish sometimes!!!

Swimming...one of the best forms of exercise one can do. Swimming works out your ENTIRE body. Swimming works out muscles you didnt even know you had until the next day and your sore as all get out. Swimming is an amazing form of cardio and muscle building all at the same time!!! It will give you strong lean legs, butt, thighs, arms, back, shoulders, and abs...you name it! The picture below is a picture of me when I was on my high school swim team many many moons ago. If not an avid swimmer, consider swimming as a form of cross training.
(cross training -- AKA circuit training -- is a form of exercise or a sport that an athlete will go to to train outside of their usual training schedule or sport...in simpler terms...when I train for a half marathon almost all of my work outs consist of running, however once or twice a week I do a form of cross training. Rather then running, i'll switch to a spinning class or a strength training day.) It's good for your body and muscles to not get too used to one thing. This is where muscle confusion comes in...i'll discuss this on another blog, i've strayed way off of track from my discussion on swimming!!!
There are so many different work outs you can do with swimming, there are different strokes that you can use when swimming. I'll touch base with these strokes and post step by step instructions in another blog.

Strokes:
Butterfly
Back Stroke
Free Style
Breast Stroke
If just wanting to get in some good cardio and muscle work all of these strokes are great! For a beginer the most simple stroke would be free style.

If injured from another sport swimming is usually your best choice of exercise to do during recovery. While recovering you can stay in shape and keep your muscles good and strong.

From my pool to yours! SPLISH SPLASH LETS GO SWIM!!!
